About the zoo
Run by an organisation that is not connected to the local government, this zoo belongs to the Malaysian Zoological Society. The fees collected for the entrance is used to maintain the zoo, along with private and public donations and sponsors. There are many fundraising events conducted throughout the year in Malaysia, for the benefit of the zoo.
How to get there
Located in the outskirts of the capital city of Kuala Lumpur, the zoo is close to the Bukit Tabur in the northeastern parts. What to expect

The animals
The zoo is home to about 5100 animals that belong to more than 450 species. They include fish, reptiles, birds and mammals. The variety of life found here is impressive enough, but, the zoo is also planning on creating a free-roaming space for the animals in the near future. The zoo is more than 50 years old now and might go under renovation soon.
