As you embark on an island excursion to Phuket, the surrounding ocean and islands will prove to be a sight to cherish. Why not visit them? While you may not be able to visit all the islands, several islands are situated close to Phuket, within reach for guests, and here are some handpicked ones to add to your checklist.
Phi Phi Island
While helicopter sightseeing of Phi Phi Island during a vacation at Phuket luxury hotels may be an option, a ferry ride from Anantara Layan Phuket Resort to this famed island is perhaps the cheapest and most convenient method of travel. Situated close to both Krabi and Phuket, Phi Phi Island garnered worldwide attention following the release of a movie named The Beach, which featured big names in Hollywood such as Leonardo DiCaprio and Tilda Swinton.
Maiton Island
A day trip to Maiton Island offers pristine beachfront views and an aura of relaxation, located just 15 minutes away from the south of Phuket. While there is no apparent hotel in operation on the island now, you can still set off on a day picnic, engage in some fun in the sun and explore the vibrant marine life under the sea during a session of snorkelling.
Koh Yao Noi
The island of Koh Yao can be discovered in two parts centrally located between Phuket and Krabi. Koh Yao Noi is the smaller one out of the two large islands and can be reached from the Bang Rong Pier. Guests will be able to relax and enjoy an Eden of tropical greenery while cycling around town to visit the small village, rice fields and rubber plantations.
Similan Islands
Consisting of an unusual landscape, the Similan Islands are comparatively far from Phuket, yet is a must-visit site for you and your family. It is also advisable that your trip to the islands be a minimum of two days as a speed boat ride will be too exhausting and you may not be able to revel in the magnificent tropics of the island in such limited hours.
