Each year, travellers from all over the world arrive in Thailand hoping to bask on the sun splashed beaches and enjoy the blue tropical waters. However, hidden further inland among the lush green forests and high mountains of the country are some of its lesser known natural wonders that are worth the visit if you are heading off to experience the best of this Asian kingdom; namely the alluring and wonderful natural waterfalls found deep in the land.
When keeping an eye out for picturesque waterfalls in Thailand, the Trang province in the south of the country has several good locations that are sure to sweep you off your feet. Since Trang is already popular for its wonderful beaches and warm sunshine you might already be heading there, so it would be a welcome change to make a detour to one of the fantastic natural water cascades of the region. Trang is quite mountainous when you head inland, so many of the rivers and creeks of the province make for beautiful waterfalls large and small scattered throughout the area.
The tallest and one of the most picturesque among the waterfalls of Trang is the 320 meter high Namtok Ton Te waterfall. Located 45 kilometres away from the city of Trang, this towering falls make for a breathtaking sight as it thunders down several tires of massive rock on the mountainside. It is also very easy to get at because the place is a traveller’s favourite in the region when it comes to waterfalls and scenic spots. Another interesting place to waterfall hunting is the Chong Banpot water garden and Asoka forest. Mostly populated by Asoka trees, the woods of Chong Banpot is home to quite a number of small waterfalls scattered over the grounds of the forest. Even if they are not awe inspiring as their larger counterparts, these falls can rival them in scenic beauty. Another great place to visit is Namtok Lam Plok, where the majestic six-tiered waterfall makes for a lovely setting for a picnic or a short hike. These are but a few of Trang’s waterfall wonders, as you are bound to find many more if you have the time to spare while in Trang.
It is easy to find the best resorts on that side of the country at Krabi if you’re planning on going exploring in Trang. Krabi Resorts, especially the charming and luxurious Krabi Villas in Si Kao such as the Anantara Saiko, Thailand are great for a stay of couple of nights before you go waterfall hunting or lazing on the beach.
