There is more to Sri Lanka than its national parks and palm-lined beaches. If you travel far into the island’s central highlands, you will see tea gardens, river streams, foggy hills, and lush green paddy terraces.
Falls at Bomburu, Ella
This less well-known jewel has ten tiny streams of water cascading down it. The distance from the main Welimada-Pussellawa road to the falls is around two kilometres.
Aberdeen Falls
Aberdeen is a little-known waterfall that’s close to Laxapana, even among local tourists. The main base pool of the waterfall can be reached in a variety of methods, the longest of which will require you to trek through a deep jungle for about 30 minutes.
Dusinane Falls
Back in Nuwara Eliya now. From the tea bungalows at Ceylon Tea Trails, a simple half-day trip will take you to Dunsinane Falls. This waterfall is the result of Pundalu Oya, a branch of the Kothmale River that rises near the Nuwara Eliya district [SG1] and flows south.
Bakers Fall
Baker’s Falls is located within the Horton Plains National Park and is named after the Englishman Sir Samuel Baker.
