The Sultanate of Oman is one of the most geographically beautiful places to be found in the Middle East, and if you find yourself in this glorious nation, be sure to visit Wadi Al Ghul.
Background
Wadi al Ghul refers to an abandoned village that is found at the base of her tallest mountain, which is Jebel Shams. The scenery is spectacular since the entire area features exceptionally mountainous terrain.
Getting There
Although there is some off-road driving involves, the roads are not too difficult, and one can even tackle them with a normal sedan. A 4X4, if attainable, would be ideal. If you’re staying at one of many hotels in Nizwa found nearby, such as Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort, they would almost certainly organise an excursion for you.
The Grand Canyon
The gorge located here is actually an entire 200 metres deeper than the iconic Grand Canyon of the United States. Even better, if you’re a seeker of serenity, you’ll find a lot fewer tourists at the Omani Grand Canyon.
The Balcony Walk
This refers to a path that has been laid out which allows tourists to traverse the rocky rim of the canyon, and make their way to the abandoned village of Al Sab. It is definitely an experience you’ll remember for a lifetime.
