Horton Plains
The Horton Plains is a National Park nestled in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. The main attraction being World’s End, a sheer drop of almost 880 m. The park also boasts of a rich biodiversity to be experienced.
How to Get There
The park can be conveniently accessed by its nearest city, Nuwara Eliya which is 32 km away and Ohiya, 8 km away respectively. The best way to get there is would be to hire a car or a van through car booking in Sri Lanka including the likes of carbooking .lk, well in advance depending on the number of people in your group.
Best Time to visit
The best time to visit the park and World’s End is early morning, it’s important to get there before 10.30 a.m. for great visibility as it can get cloudy fast. If you ‘re lucky you might be able to see as far Adam’s Peak, Sri Lanka’s most revered mountain.
Things to see
Along with some jaw-dropping views along your hike, you will get to enjoy the local flora and fauna, see some deer and lots of birds. While on the route do not forget to visit the beautiful Baker’s Fall. Also, do visit the little museum by the main entrance for some mini history lessons.
