Built during the early 19th century, Wat Chalong is a must-visit attraction in Phuket. It is located adjacent to Phuket’s Big Buddha so both attractions can be visited in one trip.
The Central Temple
This is where most Thai nationals make merit by offering flowers and adding tiny pieces of gold paper into the statues of Buddhas.
Souvenir Shops
A number of shops exist on the temple side, selling a variety of souvenirs and other tourist-y items. These make for great places to collect gifts for your loved ones back home whether you’re staying at Avadina Hills By Anantara or any one of the other Thailand luxury villas for sale.
The Tallest Building Within the Temple Premises
This is the 60-metre-tall stupa (also known as chedi), which houses a bone fragment of Lord Buddha. The temple walls and ceilings are decorated with beautiful paintings that retrace Buddha’s life.
Dress Code
When visiting this temple, make sure that you wear clothing that cover the full-length of your body as a sign of your respect.
