Rumassala is the name given to the hilly outcrop that rises at the back of beautiful Unawatuna Beach. Hanuman unable to identify the herb decided to bring back part of the mountain to Sri Lanka. On his return journey a chunk of this mountain fell off creating Rumassala Hill.
From the summit of the hill you are awarded with views across the Galle Harbour all the way to the Old Dutch Fort and as you gaze inland you will be able to make out famous Adams Peak. The sea that borders Rumassala is home to a reef where some of the country’s best coral thrive while identifying the rare medicinal herbs on the hill are part of the invigorating trek up Rumassala.
