Being the second largest city in Thailand, Chiang Mai doesn’t come up short when it comes to having exciting tourist attractions.
If Bangkok made you mad with all the crazy traffic and sleepless nights, then Chiang Mai is the lesser of the two devils. The hotels in Chiang Mai are more relaxed and also offer a variety of accommodations, for both the luxury traveller and the backpacker. For a truly relaxing vacation away from all the noise, places like the Anantara Chiang Mai Resort will serve you well.
Wat Prathat Doi Suthep
Set on top of a mountain, this temple houses a seat Buddha and is easily one of the most attractive places in the city. You can reach the temple by hiking up the hill, roaring up on a rented bike or taking a communal cab known as a songthaew. On a good day, you can look out over the entire city from the top of the mountain and it certainly is a breathtaking view.
Doi Pui
This tiny Hmong village looks authentic on the outside, but once you step in, you’d know it was a tailor made tourist spot. Authentic souvenirs and food can be found at the restaurants here and the view from the village is scenic, to say the least.
