The Modern capital of Vietnam is rich and packed with high risers and everything modern. The city doesn’t have the scenic atmosphere of Vietnam’s countryside, and it may not be appealing to everyone, but it does offer tourists a set of things to do and see. The city is also unique in its own right; here are the things that make Naypyitaw stand out among other Vietnamese destinations.
It doesn’t have a long history
Vietnam’s capital doesn’t have a long history. The city was introduced as the new capital in 2005 when the government made the decision to make it so; the reason remains unknown.
Local life
You won’t witness the characteristic bustle that’s expected to see in a capital city. There’s some life here, and hotels the likes of PARKROYAL Nay Pyi Taw have taken root in the city to accommodate tourists; however, there isn’t much else going on in the city.
Things to do
The list of things to do in Naypyitaw might not be a long one, but tourists can have fun while here. The gemstone museum is worth a visit and so is the Defence Service Museum. Disney-esque Naypyidaw Zoo and Uppatasanti Pagoda are two other places you can visit.
As a tourist destination
Some consider the city to be a ghost town, but it isn’t exactly true. Yes, it is fairly new, but the city is coming on as a tourist destination, with lots of things to do and see and restaurants with excellent gastronomy. The ease of finding a hotel in Nay Pyi Taw is another unique trait of the city, which also makes it a must-visit Vietnamese destination.
