The island country of Sri Lanka, also known as the Pearl of the Indian Ocean, is a tropical paradise. Blessed with a beautiful coastline and amazing culture, the country is one of the most visited destinations in Southeast Asia.
Climb Sigiriya
Sigiriya is one of the many marvels in Sri Lanka. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Sigiriya is a rock that resembles the face of a lion. A fortress is now reduced to ruins at the top of the rock; the rock is also home to several landscaped gardens.
Visit the national parks
Get up close with wildlife at one of Sri Lanka’s national parks. Yala, Udawalawe, Minneriya, and Horton Plains are some of the parks you should consider visiting. Leopards, elephants, monkeys, deer, crocodiles, migratory birds, and endemic birds will be a few of your encounters.
Negombo Fish Market
To experience the bustle of Sri Lanka’s day-to-day life in a coastal town, visit Negombo Fish Market. Located just 16 minutes from hotels like Club Hotel Dolphin, the market makes for a quintessentially Sri Lankan experience. You can buy fish here, but the place gets a little crowded. Get here as early as you can for the freshest catch of the day – or you could simply visit one of the Negombo restaurants for a delicious seafood meal.
Relax on the beaches
Beaches are inarguably the main attraction of Sri Lanka. The golden coastline provides ample opportunity to relax. Tourists can also enjoy an array of water sports, including swimming, snorkeling, diving, whale watching, parasailing, and surfing.
