Key Architectural Elements
If you’re planning to go sightseeing in Abu Dhabi, while you’re relaxing at any one of its amazing hotels, such as the Anantara Sir Bani Yas Island Al Yamm Villa Resort, for example, an architectural marvel like the Sheik Zayed Mosque is an excellent place to seek. It features 82 impressive domes, over 1000 columns, the world’s biggest hand-knotted carpet and beautiful 24-carat gold gilded chandeliers.
Minarets
This mosque features four minarets that are each an astounding 106 metres tall. They reflect Andalusian, Mameluke and Moroccan architectural styles. Their design is comprised of three geometric shapes.
Carpet
The main prayer hall showcases a carpet with an intricate design that resembles Islamic medallions and was designed by the artist Dr Ali Khaliqi. This single-piece carpet took a total of two years to be completed as is 5,700 square metres in size.
Chandeliers
Another gorgeous facet here are its seven crystal chandeliers by Faustig of Munich, the biggest of which is fifteen metres tall, ten meters across and weighs at 12 tonnes.
