History
Legend has it that the Liwa Oasis was much larger in the past, and was a home to around 50 settlement, with the most significant being the Bu Fallah Tribe. After Abu Dhabi became a prosperous world-class city, the ruler ensured that the tribesmen were included in the capital’s newfound prosperity.
The Empty Quarter
Also known as Rub’ Al Khali, this is the biggest uninterrupted sand desert in the world and is an unforgiving landscape. It covers more than 650,000km2 and is the topic of much intrigue and mystery.
Liwa Oasis
This is a massive oasis that is situated within the United Arab Emirates, within the jurisdiction of Abu Dhabi, the nation’s capital. It lies on the northern edge of the Rub al Khali desert and stretches around 100km from east to west. This destination is famous for its endless sand dunes!
Getting to Liwa
