The Batu Caves consist of a few smaller caves and three main caves of which the largest is referred to as the Temple Cave or Cathedral Cave, to reach this cave a visitor has to climb a steep flight of 272 steps. The caves rises almost 100 meters above ground level and there are quite a few undeveloped caves which have a variety of cave fauna and unique species like the Rousettus fruit bats and the Liphistiidae spider, one can also see many Macaque monkeys who roam the caves.
