Asians love their food, therefore, when visiting Asia, you are sure to find a hawker stall at nearly every nook and corner of the streets. The roads are always busy, but the aroma of cooking food is always alluring. Cambodia is no different. Here are a few snacks to try out here.
Lort Cha
This is popular street food in Cambodia which consists of stir-fried rice noodles with Chinese broccoli, bean sprouts and chives. The dish is cooked with beef and served with a sweet red sauce. The dish can be seen on the streets and in restaurants in Siem Reap and Phon Phnem.
Num Pang
Brought to Cambodia by the French, the baguette is what is used to make this sandwich. Slices of beef and vegetables like chives, Chinese cabbage, cucumber and carrots are all stuffed in making the Num Pang simply explosive with flavour! Restaurants like Chi Restaurant & Bar are sure to have it on their menu.
Bamboo Sticky Rice
This rice dish is quite unusual. The rice along with coconut milk, grated coconut and black beans are stuffed into a bamboo stick and then roasted. You’ve got to taste it to know how great the flavour is!
Snails
Step out and you’ll find carts filled with snails left to dry in the sun. These snails have been seasoned and cooked before putting them out to bake in the sun. You could either have it with red chilli sauce or garlic and salt.
