Wondering what is the best season to plan a holiday to the Maldives? That’s easy because the answer is the whole year through! There are two different seasons here, each with something different to offer.
The Dry Season
Running from November to April, the dry season is an ideal time to soak up the sun and relax at a luxury resort; Maldives weather during this time features balmy days filled with heavenly sunshine, while the waters are calm too. Understandably, this is also the high season with higher rates and airfare.
The Wet Season
From May to October the wet season brings monsoon rains; keep in mind, however, that this won’t be all the time and during this off-season, rates and airfare will be less. Additionally, at resorts in Baa Atoll like Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas, you can enjoy fun activities including encounters with manta rays!
Seasonal Highlights
The dry season is the best time to try water sports in general including snorkelling, diving, jet-skiing, paddle boarding, kayaking, parasailing and Seabob adventures. During the wet season, places like the Baa Atoll are ideal for snorkelling with manta rays, while the Male Atolls offer great surfing waves too.
What to Pack
No matter the season, you need to pack smart. In general, light cotton clothing is ideal throughout the year. You can wear bikinis or short attire on private resorts but not on local islands, so bring clothing that covers bare shoulders and legs too. Also, don’t forget plenty of sunscreen that is at least SPF 30 and reef safe.
