Observe the fisherman
The main livelihood of the people living here is fishing. If you are staying at one of the beach hotels in Tangalle, rise early to watch the fisherman hauling in the catch of the day. You can even go and give them a hand if you’d like.
Turtle watching
Just a 26-minute drive away from Anantara Peace Haven Tangalle Resort, Turtle Watch Rekawa is a magical beach to visit from January to July. During this period, various species of turtle come ashore by night to lay their eggs.
Mulkirigala Temple
This is a stunning ancient rock temple that lies towards the north of Tangalle. Climb up and explore the many caves, Buddha statues and don’t forget to feast your eyes on the breath-taking views from the top.
