Namesake
Completed in 1900, the mosque is named after Sultan Abu Bakar; historians credit him as being the father of modern Johor due to his leadership and the development that took place during his time. Easily accessible from a centrally located Johor hotel in the city, this sacred site is well worth visiting.
Location
The Sultan Abu Bakar State Mosque can be found on Jalan Skudai and is close to the Royal Abu Bakar Museum. Within a 15 minute drive from Berjaya Waterfront Hotel, the mosque is located on a hill which offers stunning vistas of the straits of Johor.

One of the most prominent aspects of the mosque is its unique design which features a blend of 19th century Victorian architecture with Malay and Moorish elements.
