The Sultan Abdul Samad Building is a famous landmark in Kuala Lumpur. It is amongst the earliest Moorish style architecture designs built in 1897. The building was named after the reigning sultan of Selangor during that time.
Renowned for its elaborate architecture it is a place you cannot turn away from if you are in the city. There is plenty of Holiday Apartment in Kuala Lumpur but for those who seek unique accommodation should opt for Ascott Kuala Lumpur which is an amazing apartment hotel providing serviced accommodation.
Sultan Abdul Samad Building is now home to the Ministry of Information, Communications and Culture of Malaysia and sits beside the old KL Railway Station. Though it no longer serves an official purpose, it remains one of the city’s most important tourist attractions and a historical landmark in the city. This building stands out due to the ornate structure and fabulous architecture used. During colonial times the building served as an administration office for the British government and today it houses the Malaysian ministry of information, communication and culture.
The Sultan Abdul Samad Building is entirely constructed with bricks and it is strongly influenced by Moorish designs that are known to have arches, grand porches, shiny copper cupolas and the most significant eye catcher is the clock tower adjoining the building. Since the building has a Moorish influence blended with British styles and a blend of local culture, the architect added an Islamic touch to it before completing it in 1897. When you are in KL CBD you cannot miss the clock tower facing the road. Adjoining this tower you will find the building in all its splendor. This is one of the main attractions in the city and a one you need to checkout or at least be photographed with.
