Samboosa
If it sounds a lot like samosa, you guessed it right. It is quite similar to samosa and is a crunchy snack that is served during teatime in Abu Dhabi. This is the Emirati version and originates from Asia. Vegetables and meat are stuffed into a pastry while mixed with spices and herbs.
Harees
Simply the most popular comfort food in UAE, this is also famously served at weddings and festivals. Similar to porridge, this dish is made with meat, wheat and salt. The entire mixture is cooked in a clay pot and buried under the ground, in a hole filled with hot coal. After a few hours, the porridge is served in a bowl with ghee poured on top.
