Mongkok- today

Mongkok during the Tang Dynasty
Over a thousand years ago, this area was busy with large scale Kilns. Although a clear idea is not yet present as to what exactly was produced in these Kilns, this area has been populated and active for sure.
The 1910s
In the 1910s, a ferry pier was established connecting Hong Kong Island and Mongkok, and this increased access to this area. The Kowloon Caton Railway also was opened during this time, and the accessibility did further expand.
Time after then
Gradually, many other facilities were brought up in the area and some of them were the Police Station and the Shui Yuet Temple. Its commercial development happened rapidly, and soon it became a shopping and trading area loved by the whole world.
