In the month of July Thailand initiated a program called the Samui Plus Sandbox to allow foreign visitors to enter the island without going through the quarantine procedures. The points given in this article will help with getting to know the process in brief.
Eligibility
This depends first and foremost on whether you are from a low-risk country. Travellers from low-risk countries are welcome, however, they need to be vaccinated with both doses. Children travelling with parents who are fully vaccinated will need to take a PCR test 72 hours before travelling to Thailand.
Book your flight and hotel
Make sure to book a direct flight to Samui and book a Samui extra plus hotel. Koh Samui accommodation includes special hotels the likes of Avani+ Samui Resort which strictly follow the safety measures for COVID—19.
Apply for COE
Those planning on travelling to Koh Samui will need to apply for a Certificate of Entry. This can be done online, fill out the form and submit it to your local Thai Embassy. Applications will be screened through and you can check online for confirmation to go ahead with plans.
COVID-19 tests
Obtaining an RT-PCR test at least 72 hours before your flight is necessary. Find out from your airline if a home test would do for convenience.
