Sometimes, adventure seems too much. After all, you’re not Frodo setting out on a quest. So, since Middle Earth ain’t be needing your services anytime soon, you have all the freedom in the world to kick back and relax. Where you ask? Why Queenstown of course mate! For too many years has Queenstown been famous only for being the ‘adventure capital of New Zealand”. Well, now you will see that there’s more to Queenstown than just thrill that it can also be the ultimate place to chill!
Now for all those who have been living under a rock, Queenstown is a beautiful resort town in New Zealand’s South Island. It lies serenely by Lake Wakatipu with the gorgeous Southern Alps on one side. There are domestic flights as well as international flights that fly to the Queenstown Airport in Frankton, Otago. A flight from North Island’s Auckland to Queenstown would take about 2 hours. Once you reach Queenstown, ski resort, boutique hotel, and a hostel will be your options for accommodation. But, whatever you choose, make sure it’s a hotel located within an easy distance to all the attractions you’re gonna be exploring. If you do your research right, you’ll get to book a place like Oaks Club that’s close to all the top attractions such as Lake Wakatipu and the mountains while being the perfect chilled out getaway that your peace-loving soul desires.
Okay, so now that we’re done with the particulars, let’s get down to the most important thing- the Non-Adrenaline Activities that you’re gonna be doing.
First off, you need to take a scenic ride on a gondola. Head over to Skyline Queenstown and ride a sky car, a.k.a gondola, to Bob’s Peak. Dine at the restaurant up there and hurtle down the mountainside on a Luge! Don’t worry it’s such a non-adrenaline activity that even kids do it. Then visit Pure Glenorchy and take the Lord of the Rings tour where you will explore Lothlorien Forest, Amon Hen, Isengard, Ithilien and The Misty Mountains at the Mt Aspiring World Heritage Park. Who knows you might even bump into Sauron there!
And last but not least, go down to the city centre and enjoy a burger at Fergburger. You’ll have to wait a bit in the queue but trust us when we say, that it so worth it! Sinking your teeth into the juicy, succulent meaty burgers will not only satisfy your hunger but your soul as well!
