Stroll along Padang Padang Beach, which was one of the romantic filming locations for the movie adaptation of ‘Eat, Pray, Love’, which was shot in 2010. It is also a star among surfers, who arrive from across the globe in search of the consistent barrels that roll in with the fine weather. Local surf shops rent boards to visitors without their own though these waters, particularly the open waters beyond the reef, are not recommended for beginners. It is not uncommon to find an international surfing competition taking place at Padang Padang Beach, best known is the Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang.
This one hundred metre long beach, which is known among locals as Pantai Labuan Sait, can be found on the north-western side of the island’s Bukit Peninsula. To get down to the beach, you will need to take a flight of wooden stairs that runs through a cave created by two large boulders. At a midway point on the stairs stands the Uluwatu Temple that towers above the sand below. Padang Padang is a great location for a day of family fun; refreshments and snacks are sold by food vendors and surfer style cafes.
