Just north-east of Brisbane you will find an island that is synonymous with adventure. It is the largest sand-based island landmass in the world if you take into consideration the adjoining Fraser Island.

Adventure Redefined
Moreton Island hardly has any resident population, and people make their way here to indulge in a variety of activities such as camping, off-roading, whale watching, and diving. There’s a range of geological and natural wonders here because the island is 95% natural park.
Sand Tobogganing
This is one of Moreton Island’s hallmarks due to the massive dunes that are prevalent towards the centre of the island. These sand dunes are absolutely surreal since they are surrounded by forest.
The Tangalooma Wrecks
These are the remains of various ships that were purposefully sunk to create an artificial barrier. They are now a popular snorkelling and scuba diving site. There are around fifteen ships to be found and even explored because they act as an ecosystem for many kinds of marine life.
Getting to Moreton Island
There are many ferries that provide transport to Moreton Island, such as the Moreton Island Adventures MICAT. Many hotels and resorts also arrange transport to the island, so if you’re staying at one of Brisbane hotels in CBD, such as the likes of iStay River City, you might just be in luck.
