Born in Strasbourg, Marie Tussaud learned the craft of wax work sculpture under the tutelage of Dr. Phillipe Curtius, an individual who was skilled in wax models, and produced her first model at the age of sixteen. Subsequent to Dr. Curtius’ death, she inherited his collection and later exhibited them, along with her own, at the London Lyceum Theatre. In modern times, Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum is a famous tourist attraction in London and has expanded beyond the shores of Great Britain. As a result, branches of the Museum are found in Amsterdam, Berlin, Hollywood, Las Vegas, Hong Kong, Sydney, Vienna, Washington D.C. and of course, Bangkok.
The branch located in Bangkok, Thailand is composed of many segments and its highlights include a Red Carpet segment featuring wax figures of Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and Nicole Kidman, while the Music Zone features famous pop stars such as Lady Gaga, and music legend Michael Jackson, among others. For the history buffs, the museum delivers in style, for wax figures of Princess Diana and other Asian leaders are featured at the Bangkok edition of Madame Tussauds. A wax museum would be incomplete without the models of world leaders such as Barack Obama and sportsmen such as Wayne Rooney, and indeed, the Bangkok edition delivers!
