Thailand is yet another beautiful land with several unique temples that depict various myths and beliefs that came to be in the period in which it was built. Huai Sai Tai Temple is no different and has its own special story and charm to it.
Luang Phor Thongsuk
This temple is dedicated to an ancient monk who was born in 2420 BC in the year of the cow on 9th May (the 9th day of the waxing moon). In his childhood days, he spent most of his time in the temple, however, became a thug in his teenage years. Once he found himself wanted by the police, he ran away to the woods and suffered a great many ordeals that helped him turn a new leaf.
The Statue of the monk
The statue of the monk at this temple is a magnificent tribute to Luang Phor Thongsuk. It rises about 5 mezzanine floors giving a gigantic appearance. However, despite the monk’s troubled past, the statue displays quite a tranquil appearance to what he might have looked like.
The temple origins
The temple is said to have been built in 1967 on the 32 Rai of the monk’s parents’ land. The ordination hall called Ubosot was built with wood overwater. Fish feeding here has been a popular activity here since the time it was built.
Other information
If you are accommodated in a resort in Hua Hin the likes of Avani+ Hua Hin Resort, it would do you some good to inquire about how to get to the temple before you head out for a taxi or tuk-tuk. Once you visit, don’t forget to purchase a little bell and leave it by the bell-shaped roof for some blessings.
