Heading south along the coast you will find Had Chaomai National Park which spans over two hundred and thirty thousand square kilometres. It consists partly of land and partly of sea. Within the park you will find Hat Chao Mai beach and Hat Chang Lang beach. On the west side of the park is a stunning sight of limestone cliffs that tower over the sandy beach and overlook the sea. The entrance to the famous Morakot Cave, which is also known as Emerald Cave, can be found in the Cliffside. The cave can only be entered when the tide is low. A tunnel takes you through to a lagoon of crystal blue water and sandy banks, surrounded on all sides by tall cliffs.
Had Chao Mai was declared a national park in 1982. There is some wildlife to seen in the park, keep your eyes open for endangered dugong, rare black-necked stork, wild pigs, pangolins and languors. A small fishing village belongs to the park and seven small islands: including Koh Muk, Koh Kradan, Koh Chueak, Koh Pling, Koh Waen, Koh Meng and Koh Chao Mai. The park’s headquarters is situated on Hat Chang Lang beach. Entrance fees are two hundred baht per adult and one hundred baht per child.
