What to Expect
Starting your day off at a 5-star hotel in Kandy the likes of Earls Regency, would be an ideal base camp for preparing an early morning start to your hike. Many hotels offer simple tours for your hike, so you can enjoy yourself without worrying about the small details. By starting early, you can ensure a good hike. The first few summits are easy hikes for experienced hikers and are the most frequently traversed. After that, the trail is less demarcated but still a beautiful path to walk along. There are many endemic birds and flora and fauna to see, which makes the trek more enjoyable. To avoid getting lost, keep track of time and make your way safely back before sunset, as it can get very dark quickly.
Best Time to Visit
The hiking trails in the Mountain Range are open from 9 am to 3 pm. It is not recommended to hike after 3 pm as it can be dangerous. The hike will take approximately 3-4 hours as there are many sights to see and explore along the way. Although the Mountain Range is open year-round, the best time to visit is from December to February when the weather is more suitable for hiking.
Things to Keep in Mind
When going on a hike, it’s important to remember a few things. Firstly, wear comfortable clothes that are also protective and suitable for the weather.
