One of Sri Lanka’s largest cities is Kandy. It is quite crowded with 115,000 people living in a very small area. Three hours from Colombo, the city is situated in the middle of the island. Kandy is famous for its historic splendour and beautiful surroundings. Here are some fun things to do on your next visit.
Visit the botanical gardens
The gardens are located in a sizable park where it is excellent to stroll around for a while, unwind, and take in the stunning flowers, trees, and natural surroundings. The twin coconut tree, which bears enormous coconuts, should be sought out.
Climb the Ambuluwawa Tower
Ambuluwawa tower on top is located about 25 kilometres south of Kandy, close to the town of Gampola. In addition to the stunning outlook, the design of this tower is what sets it apart. This has a shell-like inversion to it.
Bairavokanda Viharaya
A 26-metre-tall white Buddha statue is located right outside the centre. It’s a peaceful location with a beautiful view over the Kandy valley because of its small elevation. For the greatest perspective, climb up the back of the Buddha statue.
Walk along the city lake
This scenic lake can be seen from many hotels in Kandy, Sri Lanka. You can take a stroll along the lake, through the city and visit the Sri Dalada Maligawa too. Many popular hotels in the area include the Cinnamon Citadel Kandy among many others that you can enjoy a memorable holiday in the hills.
