When to Go
Although Negombo is a pleasant beach hub for most months of the year, first-time visitors should ideally visit during the December to March dry season to experience sunny skies and rain-free conditions.

A tour of the Dutch Canal and the Negombo Fort will also acquaint visitors with the city’s colonial legacy.

Negombo’s stunning coastlines and the Negombo Lagoon provide idyllic conditions for a wide variety of water sports activities. Snorkelling, kite surfing, jet skiing and swimming are some of the best water-based adventures tourists can enjoy during a getaway. Seafood lovers will also find that Negombo’s beachfront restaurants serve an array of regional curries infused with fresh ingredients from the Lellama fish market.
