While Sri Lanka may be pint-sized, this island is filled with beaches, forests and historical ruins. Thus, there are many things for one to do with their kids.
Visit the Beaches
When visiting Sri Lanka, it is possible to spend the entire day at properties offered by popular chains such as Aitken Spence Hotels, which offer an array of amenities to keep everyone occupied. But make sure to take the time to visit the amazing beaches of the country as it would be a great experience for the kids. Furthermore, if the kids are too young to swim, they would still be able to play on the sand.
Go on a Family Safari
There are a number of national parks situated in Sri Lanka that one can visit to observe elephants and leopards in their natural habitat. Even if you are comfortable settling at one of the resorts in Sri Lanka, take the time to drive to either Udawalawe or Yala. These are some of the best safari spots and the children would be able to spot a number of animals and birds in the wild.
Go Whale Watching
While this may not be a fun activity for young kids who are susceptible to seasickness, it is a great activity for families with older kids. That is because Sri Lanka is one of the best locations to spot the blue whale.
Visit a Turtle Hatchery
If travelling to Kosgoda, take the time to visit a turtle hatchery and rescue centre. This is where injured turtles and eggs rescued from the poachers are kept. While the baby turtles that hatch from the eggs are released back into the ocean, some of the injured turtles are kept at the centre for the duration of their lifetime. That is because they lack the capacity to survive on their own.
