This stunning temple, also referred to as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha is generally considered to be a very important religious location in Thailand.
The Emerald Buddha
This temple is also the home of the Emerald Buddha which is possibly the most important Buddha statue in the nation. Despite being quite small, visitors flock from all over the nation to pay respect to this 66-centimeter-tall statue.
If you are staying at a Bangkok city hotel such as the Pathumwan Princess Hotel, be sure to get transport organized as the journey can be quite tiring.
The history of the Emerald Buddha
Despite its name, this statue is actually made up of either jade or jasper. However, this cannot be verified as archaeologists have not been given enough time to analyse it up close. The statue was first found in 1434 but it is unknown how long it has been in existence.
