Thai boxing or Muay Thai has gained popularity the world over and here’s more on this martial art that one can try or watch on a holiday to Koh Samui.
What It Entails
Muay Thai is called the “art of eight limbs” since its techniques include using eight components of the human body, namely shins, fists, knees and elbows! The national sport of Thailand, this martial art is taken seriously with even children engaged in training. Once fully trained, fighters take part in matches that consist of five rounds of three minutes each.

Apart from being captivating to watch, Muay Thai is a martial art that offers a great workout too for those who try it when in Koh Samui! Resorts that have been SHA Extra+ certified like Avani+ Samui Resort even offer private Muay Thai sessions to help one get the hang of it. You also get private gyms on the island providing training for all ages.
Muay Thai Camps
For those who want to fully embrace and experience Muay Thai and become trained fighters, there are also Muay Thai camps in Koh Samui; examples include the Jun Muay Thai and Lamai Muay Thai Camps. Such establishments often offer basic accommodation and consist of strenuous training regimes to enhance one’s stamina, strength and fighting techniques.
