Celebrating Hari Raya
The Malaysian Tourism Board celebrated the festival of Hari Raya in Banghuris as the setting that relies heavily on the local villagers working their fields and tending to their animals. It was considered an authentic and appreciative depiction of rural Malaysian lifestyles and also provide a chance for tourists to experience it for themselves.
The celebration brought together tourists and guests from all walks of life, providing them with authentic home cooked meals the likes of lemang, ketupat and mentaram. The tourism initiative which was dubbed Banghuris Homestay went on to win tourism awards.
Participate in Local Activities
There is plenty to do in Banghuris which is about 20 minutes’ drive up from resorts along the coastline like Avani Sepang Goldcoast Resort including working at a coffee plantation, visiting rubber and palm oil plantations learning about the processes and helping out the locals.
You can also go on tours of the local villages and participate in their lifestyles; they are all very welcoming and willing to share their unique Javanese heritage and culture with you. The Banghuris Homestay initiative has done a lot in terms of development to the area. The locals love being ambassadors to their culture.
