Building the Wheel

The Wheel Brisbane stands 60m at its highest point and was opened to the public in August, 2008, as part of the 150th Anniversary celebrations of the State of Queensland. The wheel itself is a Bussink R60 transportable wheel, and has a total of 42 “gondolas” attached to it to carry passengers.

The Wheel of Brisbane offers its passengers a ride that lasts approximately 12 minutes, in which the wheel completes four revolutions – mind you, each gondola has a stop at the very top of the wheel giving you an unparalleled view of the city. A ticket to the Wheel of Brisbane is AUD 15.5 for adults, while free entrance is given to children.
