Also known as Saint Christopher and Nevis, the combined area of the two islands is 269 square kilometers. The people in St Kitts and Nevis are mainly black, with a minority of mulatto; mixed African and white population. Very small groups of South Asian and white people also live there.
Overview
The larger of the two islands, St Kitts, boasts a diverse range of terrain, from dry scrub and salt ponds to rainforest and mountains. The smaller one, Nevis, boasts sandy beaches, particularly for Pinney’s Beach and Oualie Beach.
Brimstone Hill National Park Fortress – St Kitts
This is a massive fortress and UNESCO World Heritage Site set on the top of a volcanic mound. It is one of America’s best-preserved historical fortifications. A series of museum rooms give visitors who travel to the islands via interCaribbean Airways or similar other passenger airlines that provide interCaribbean flights.
Rawlins Plantation Inn – St Kitts
Rawlins Plantation Inn is a 17th-century plantation house and ruined mill that was later transformed into a beautiful colonial-style bungalow. Surrounded by lovely gardens, this is a pleasant location to enjoy lunch or afternoon tea while touring the island.
Charlestown – Nevis
Charlestown prides itself in its colorful sprawl of pastel walls and beautiful gardens. Set by the ocean, the Alexander Hamilton Museum is where you can learn about the island’s history.
