The culture in Dubai is unique! You won’t get to enjoy this culture anywhere in the western world. So, if you are planning a Dubai tour any sooner, get ready to experience a cultural shock.
Clothing
Locals wear hijabs or abaya which are considered the traditional dresses of the Muslim world. But you don’t necessarily wear these, a decent dress would be more than fine for you!
Mosques
If you are staying at one of the Palm Jumeirah hotels the likes of Avani Palm View Dubai, you’ll be able to hear prayer services at mosques at least once a day. Even though you’d find this weird during the first couple of days, you’ll soon get accustomed to it. You can’t visit mosques during prayer services but always can visit them any other time.
Showing affection in public
PDA (Public Display of Affection) in Dubai is not allowed. Holding hands, hugging, and kissing in public can sometimes cause imprisonment. Strange, but true!
Ramadan
If you are travelling during the Ramadan period, don’t expect Dubai to be normal. All shops and restaurants will be closed during the daytime. You have no choice, but to obey their customs.
