If you are into art and history, then visiting Geoffrey Bawa’s house in Colombo is a must! Known to be a famous Sri Lankan architect, Bawa has created many iconic structures on the island. One of it is his city town; tucked away in a cul-de-sac of a tiny lane, the masterpiece is located in the most affluential residential areas in the city.
Tour the Red Mosque
Known to be one of the oldest mosques in Sri Lanka, the red mosque is huge in Pettah. Looking more like a candy cane from the outside due to its red and white exterior, the Jami-ul-Alfar mosque takes up a whole block in Pettah and is perfect for pictures. There is controversy regarding women being allowed to enter, however, on certain occasions they are. So better try your luck!

If you are staying at a Colombo city hotel the likes of Mandarina Colombo Hotel, then reaching this beautiful temple shouldn’t be an issue at all. The temple charges around Rs 300 for foreigners to enter, and always remember to wear modest clothing before you go here.
