When in Singapore, there are plenty of things for you to indulge in. Here’s a little more on the unique ArtScience Museum, a location that has something for every kind of traveller.
Overview
As one of the world’s first fusion museums, the ArtScience Museum is truly one-of-a-kind. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong opened the museum on the 17th of February in 2011. Featuring many pieces and exhibits with a mix of technology, culture, science and art, you’re looking at a rather unique experience. The main role of the museum is to host exhibitions, although a more permanent idea is being planned.
The architecture
Even if you’re not a big fan of science or art, you must visit this museum to admire its architecture. And it is not too far from many long-stay apartments in Singapore the likes of lyf Farrer Park Singapore. The structure is said to resemble a lotus flower and was designed by Moshe Safdie. The building consists of extensions, often referred to as ‘fingers’, all ten connecting to a circular base located in the middle.
Gallery Spaces
Each of those ten extensions is home to a gallery space. Boasting 21 different gallery spaces, the total area amounts to 6000 square metres.
Exhibitions
The museum has no permanent exhibits; however, at each given time, there are numerous interesting touring exhibitions being showcased. You will have to visit the website before planning a visit to check the events/exhibitions planned!
