Got a headache that won’t go away? A real pain in the neck? Hair fall or a serious case of acne? Have you tried everything from going to specialists, chiropractors and in desperation- Google?! Your search ends here. Try a solution that has been trusted for thousands and thousands of years. A solution that promises the balance of the entire body. So what is it you ask? It is the ancient art of Ayurveda.
The mere name of the name Ayurveda shows how beneficial it is. It is made up of two Sanskrit words of “Ayuh” meaning life and “Veda” meaning the science of knowledge. Taking into account the bond between energy and matter, Ayurveda perceives disease and health in holistic terms. Without treating just the specific area that is afflicted by disease Ayurveda aims to restore health and balance to the entire body.
So when was it discovered? The origins of Ayurveda dates as far back as 5,000 BCE when it was limited to just oral tradition. Some of the theories of Ayurveda is said to have been discovered ever since the times of the great Indus Valley Civilization. Throughout the years, it has become so successful that it forms a vital part of tourism in countries such as India and Sri Lanka. Ayurveda is fast becoming the reason for many wellness retreats. Take Sri Lanka for example. The island sees thousands of tourists coming in and staying at a luxury Ayurveda hospital in Sri Lanka such as the Siddhalepa Hospital; and undergo a series of treatments that would take a period of either 3 to 12 days time, depending upon the treatment.
Ayurveda uses 100% natural products and this is considered to be one of the main reasons why it is so successful. Some of these components used in treatments included fermented herb concoctions called kasaya, special medicinal oils, and pastes which are made up of dozens of ground herbs, dried fruit, and nuts.
