The Learning Environment
Inaugurated in 2018 by His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Qatar National Library seeks to keep Qatar’s rich culture, heritage and history intact. The library shelters over 500,000 periodicals, ebooks, newspapers and a million books making the place a paradise for the avid reader. Timings and Accessibility
Open every Sunday to Thursday from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm, you can easily reach the Qatar National library by hopping on board the metro. The Architecture
Designed by the Dutch architect, Rem Koolhaas, the library takes the shape of two pulled-out papers diagonally folded from the corners. The building structure appears as a shell and includes a central plaza, tiered stacks and a bridge. Whilst visiting you can also catch a glimpse of various exhibitions, events and theatrical productions that take place in the library.
