The tropical paradise of Sri Lanka is blessed with an abundance of resources and one of the most atttractives jewels decorating this island is the fringe of beaches that run around the island. There are various other things to do in this country of rich culture and heritage, the inlands of the country are blessed with varying terrains and capturing all of its beauty would complete the Sri Lankan experience. There are various ways of getting around the country, trains, buses, cars and the latest addition to this is the air taxi. Sri Lanka has various ports of embarkment for these taxis within the island. One of the pioneers in this regard is Cinnamon Air. Most of the major cities are serviced by their fleet and they have a scheduled routine.
Koggala is a town in the southern coastal belt of Sri Lanka. The south of the country was the first to boom as a tourist hub. Koggala is blessed with beautiful sun drenched beaches and is a great place to sit back and enjoy the waves gushing under the feet. The town also has Sri Lanka’s very first turtle hatchery , where sea turtle eggs are collected and allowed to hatch in a safe enviornment and the hatchlings are later released into the sea. This project has been running for years and the center welcomes many visitors annually.
Apart from this there is also the house of one of Sri Lanka’s famous author’s, Martin Wickramasinghe, known as “Madulduwa” located in Koggala. There are also river safaris that take place in the vicinity.
There are hotels that have come up in this region that are excellent places to stay and also the beach in the town is quite nice to enjoy a sea swim in.
Other southern towns around the area include Galle, Induruwa, Bentota, Hikkaduwa and Ambalangoda which are quite famous among tourist.
