A series of villages along the coastal line of the Phang Nga province creates Khao Lak, golden sandy beaches swept away by the gentle tides of the ocean. This tourist attraction, once swept away by the Tsunami has rebuilt itself stronger than ever and welcomes globetrotters for a laid back vacation.
Blend in with Local Culture
Some of the most educational, informational and cultural tours in Khao Lak are journeying to the spiritual centres of temples of various faiths. ‘The amazing three temples’ of Khao Lak have captured tourists’ attention and form the temple tour which includes the Dragon Cave Temple made by residential monks and is located only an hour and 15 minutes away from Avani+ Khao Lak Resort; Bang Rieng Pagoda Temple where Thai, Chinese and Jedi forces meet; and the Manisii Maha Tat Temple, all of which are located close to resorts in Khao Lak.
Visit the Khao Lak National Park
Hop on a safari jeep and explore the wild and bumpy routes off the road at the Khao Lak National Park. Although the park only covers a smaller area of land, it shelters various wildlife species, birds, reptiles and amphibians. With trekking trails and tropical foliage, this little park becomes an explorer’s haven to escape the outside world.
Take a Walk Down Memory Lane
While Khao Lak is believed to have been at the centre of some busy trading ports, the area had not made its mark as a tourist destination until the 1990s. The azure beaches, forests and mountain tops attracted tourists who were in search of tropical hideouts, resulting in major hotels and resorts being introduced by the year 2000. Khao Lak was faced with an unfortunate fate as the Tsunami struck in 2004 but has risen from the ashes stronger than ever and remains to be a tourist favourite destination to date.
Culinary Tour
A local culinary journey must always be in the books for tourists exploring foreign lands. If you fancy the taste of some authentic Thai street food, the Night Market may be your best shot. However, Khao Lak also offers fine dining options for global cuisines from countries like Italy, Germany and India.
