Amongst the most popular attractions in the Lion City for families, the Singapore Zoo is a great place to take kids and this quick guide will help you plan a visit.
Before You Arrive
Due to COVID-19 related restrictions, you must book your visit in advance and online; seating for animal shows should also be booked online and are available two hours before the show starts. Check the official website (https://www.mandai.com/en/singapore-zoo/plan-your-visit.html) for detailed guidelines and download the Singapore Zoo app to help plan your exploration.
Getting Here & Around
This zoo is within easy reach for those based at upscale hotels in Singapore located in the Alexandra and Queenstown districts such as the SG Clean certified Park Hotel Alexandra. Apart from a taxi, one can take the North-South MRT line to stations such as Khatib, Ang Mo Kio or Marsiling, followed by a connecting bus. At the zoo, you can hire strollers or wagons and catch a guided tram ride too.
Engaging Things to Do
Apart from viewing the animals, let your kids enjoy some of the available activities. A firm favourite is the chance to feed elephants, giraffes or goats! Also available are wildlife tours which provide more in-depth insights, while there are the Houbii Rope Course and Wild Animal Carousel that young visitors are bound to love as well.
Shows with Animals
Catch one or more of the animal shows when you visit. A popular choice is the Splash Safari Show featuring an adorable though mischievous California sea lion that you can meet afterwards too! Also, of interest is the Rainforest Fights Back Show with various rainforest animals and the Animal Friends Show with abandoned pets who are now well-cared for.
