The King’s Cup Elephant Polo Tournament is one of the most iconic sports events in the world and is unique to Thailand. Here is a breakdown of what took place on each day of the event.
Thursday 8th of March
The first day kicked off with a ceremony conducted by Buddhist monks, followed by a traditional Thai dance performance and a buffet to feed the elephants. Tournament matches took place from 12 pm to 5 pm and the day concluded with a gala dinner at Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel.
Friday 9th of March
The tournament’s Thai food village was in business from 12 pm onwards with the matches starting from 2 pm till 5 pm. The Riverside festival with musical performances and various entertainments took place from 7 pm until midnight.
Saturday 10th March
Saturday was specifically geared towards the ladies, and in addition to the Thai food village and the tournament matches, there were fashion shows, best-dressed awards and another entertaining riverside festival to conclude the day.
Sunday 11th March
The grand finale started off quite early, with a morning yoga session at 6:45 am by the riverside. This epic day would’ve attracted many people vacationing at many a Siam hotel in Bangkok because everything from the food village to the festivities lasted the whole day, from 8 am all the way till 6 pm.
