Getting to and through
It’s wise to set out for Chanthaburi early in the morning to maximize your trip. You can take a bus from Bangkok (Ekkamai, MoChit, or Victory Monument), which typically takes about 3-4 hours. During our long weekend drive, traffic extended our journey to nearly 4 hours. Buses are also available from Pattaya and Rayong.
Day 1: Mangrove Trails
A few kilometres from the main areas, you can drive to the Khun Krabaen Mangrove Trail. Here, you explore a network of trails on raised wooden platforms that weave through thick mangroves and dense forest on either side – the mangrove trails are yours to behold.
Day 2: Coastal Roads
As you drive, you encounter beautiful roads, scenic routes, and quaint little villages. Each time you cross one of the two bridges spanning the sea, you notice that the towns and villages have their unique charm. The differences are subtle and hard to describe – but no less beautiful
Day 3: Viewpoints to See
It is about a 15-minute drive to the Noen Nang Phaya viewpoint. While there are several viewpoints, Noen Nang Phaya is the most visited—and for good reason, for it’s recommended by many locals and choices of hotel in Chanthaburi, such as the Chatrium Golf Resort Soi Dao Chanthaburi.
