An island of both seaside seclusion and amazing adventures, Phuket in Thailand offers much to experience and here are some insights on how long you should plan a holiday at this destination.
What You Need to Know
If it’s going to be your first time travelling to this island, you would want to know how much time to spend here though it could also depend on your budget and available leave days from work! Generally, two weeks would be perfect for a getaway though holidays of three to four days or even up to a month can be considered. Importantly, you need to also find central accommodation at a beachside property with the likes of Anantara Layan Phuket Resort amongst the ideal options for both short and long trips.
Three to Four Days
For such a short trip, you will have to decide how much time you want to spend between lazing on the beach and sightseeing in Phuket; luxury hotels beside the shore are ideal since you can enjoy some coastal bliss whenever you want. If you also plan to experience the best of the island, you are going to be pressed for time and will have to plan your itinerary carefully; you can consider allocating a day each for visiting local attractions, heading to a nearby island and exploring Phang Nga Bay and don’t forget to get in some nightlife at Patong Beach too!
Ten to Fourteen Days
Spending ten days or even two weeks in Phuket is an ideal choice and you can get in a good balance of sunbathing and sightseeing! Generally, the best time to visit is November to February when the weather is at its best. With such an extended stay, you could go beach hopping, spend more time visiting attractions and plan excursions to not only Phang Nga Bay but the Phi Phi and Similan islands too. You can also go diving (and get the needed certification if needed), experience spa healing, party at Patong Beach for longer, go on foodie tours and try activities like zip-lining, rock climbing and squid fishing.
One Month or More
Of course, for the ultimate Phuket holiday, nothing beats spending at least a month here on a staycation or workcation and you won’t get bored either! Apart from some of the highlights mentioned above, you can expect more rewarding experiences too especially if you choose the right resort; during your stay, you can look to train in the martial art known as Muay Thai, embark on a rejuvenating wellness journey with spa treatments and detox rituals or get in shape on a fitness boot camp. Some properties will also offer a Thai language class and hands-on cooking classes where you can learn local culinary secrets too.
