Located on the bustling Chao Phraya River, Asiatique is a sprawling shopping/bazaar complex featuring over 1000 boutiques and 40 eateries. Today, this former international trading port features a Ferris wheel, cabaret and puppet shows on top of its shopping options.
How to get there
Choose apartments near BTS station in Bangkok to easily access Asiatique. Take the BTS to Saphan Taksin station and hop on board the free shuttle boat, which takes you directly to Asiatique. You can also take a taxi to this bazaar, but the area is riddled with heavy traffic. Alternatively, you can take a boat taxi. Boat taxi piers are located within an easy distance from many serviced residences in Bangkok, including Somerset Maison Asoke Bangkok.
The layout
If arriving by boat, you will be greeted by a long boardwalk that takes you to the large warehouse complex. Several broad streets run between each warehouse, dividing the complex into 4 districts. Each street is interspersed with vintage objects such as anchors or tramcars.
Chareonkrung District
You can find authentic Thai goods and wares in this district, which features a range of small stores selling souvenirs, jewellery, clothing and handicrafts.
Factory District
Considered Asiatique’s high-end district featuring a multitude of gadget shops and high-end fashion boutiques.
