Like something out of the future, the Shanghai Maglev Train takes express travel to new heights or speeds rather and could even give Barry Allen, a.k.a. The Flash, a run for his money!
What Exactly is Maglev?
“Maglev” is the name given for the magnetic levitation technology that is utilised for this train which allows it to travel without the need to touch the ground! Apart from helping you to speedily get to your service apartment, Shanghai Maglev transport is eco-friendly too since there’s no waste gas.
Maglev Stations
The maglev train offers connections to / from the city’s Pudong International Airport and Longyang Road Station within easy reach of properties like Ascott Huai Hai Road Shanghai. Trains run from morning till night with a 15 to 20-minute frequency depending on the time of day. Remember, doors close a minute before departure.
A Need For Speed
Opened in 2002, the Shanghai Maglev Train offers one of the fastest and smoothest modes of transport you will encounter; it can reach optimal speeds of 431 km/h and the distance of 30 km between the airport and Longyang Road Station is completed in a mere eight minutes!
The Train Journey
Because it does not run on wheels, this train journey is smoother than conventional trains and is much quieter too both inside and out. The interior and design are similar to that inside a plane; compartments are air-conditioned and feature attendants, while there is a screen indicating the current speed too.
